Prince William and Kate’s 3rd Baby – It’s a Boy!

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 11:01 a.m. on 23 April 2018. The baby weighs 8 lbs 7 oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.

The Duchess traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.

The official notice was placed on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace following the announcement of the birth of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child.

It is tradition that a framed notice of birth goes on display on a ceremonial easel on the forecourt at the Palace. Notices have been posted on the occasion of a Royal birth for at least as long as Buckingham Palace has been the Sovereign’s official residence (from 1837). The notice was on display for approximately 24 hours after which it was sent to the Privy Council Office so that the details could be recorded in the Privy Council records.

A large Union Flag has been raised over Buckingham Palace and a State Standard over Windsor Castle to mark the birth of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child.

The Duke of Cambridge briefly left the hospital before returning with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. They arrived at St Mary’s to meet their new little brother.

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge left  St. Mary’s Hospital and the family traveled home to Kensington Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge introduced their new son to the world’s media before returning to Kensington Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are extremely grateful for the support and goodwill being expressed at this happy time. However, Their Royal Highnesses do not wish to encourage the sending of gifts to them on this occasion, and feel that any generosity of spirit felt by individuals should be directed to those more in need. Follow up re: Prince William and Kate’s 3rd Baby

Prince Louis was born at 11.01am on 23rd April 2018 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, weighing 8lbs 7oz. As the third child of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge he is fifth in line to the throne.

The Duke of Cambridge took Prince George and Princess Charlotte, his older brother and sister, to visit him at the hospital on the day Prince Louis was born.

On 27th April 2018, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that they would name their child Louis Arthur Charles. He will be formally known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.
